Who is behind GapFile
You're trusting us with every person's pay and gender. Here is who we are, why we built this, how your data is handled, and where we are today.

Who builds it
I'm Riaan Lochner, founder of Elastic Bean Software. We've been building business software since 2012, and GapFile is what that experience looks like when it's pointed at one problem: the gender pay gap report that lands on someone's desk each year on top of a full job. It's built for the HR generalist or finance manager who needs the figures right, the statement honest, and the proof ready if anyone asks how the numbers were reached.

Why it exists
The report itself is short. Getting it right is the work: clean payroll data, the figures worked out exactly as the regulations set them, a statement in your own words, and a record of how you got there.
GapFile does that with you in one afternoon, without a consultant. A small HR team can publish a report it can stand behind, and show its working next year and the year after.
How your data is handled
Stored and processed in Microsoft Azure data centres in the European Union. Each employer's data is kept apart in the database itself; one customer can never see another's. The statutory figures come from a fixed calculation engine following dated, published rules, never from AI. The assistant runs on Azure OpenAI in the EU. It is sent only what the task in hand needs, and your data is never used to train any AI model. Nothing changes without a person's click, and every change is recorded with who made it and why.
Where we are
2026 is GapFile's first reporting season. We'd rather say so plainly than dress it up.
We are registering for VAT in Ireland. Until that completes, prices are quoted and charged without VAT, and we'll tell existing customers before anything changes.
